SanDisk Ultra 3D: Who is the SSD for?

In general, buying an SSD like the SanDisk Ultra 3D is worthwhile if you are currently still using a conventional magnetic hard drive and want to give your system more speed. Boot and loading times can be significantly improved, especially with old laptops or game consoles (e.g. PS4). Even if the data rates of the SATA SSDs cannot keep up with the more expensive NVMe variants, they clearly beat old HDDs. The write and read speeds of the SanDisk Ultra 3D remain consistently at a very good level thanks to the TLC memory and cache.

If you just want to archive large amounts of files or create backups, an HDD is much more worthwhile. Enormous storage capacity is much cheaper here. One example is the currently inexpensive external hard drive “Western Digital My Book (8 TB).
