After months of rumors and leaks, Activision has confirmed that the next entry in the legendary Call of Duty franchise will appear later this year.
During its earnings report for the first quarter of 2020, the publisher confirmed that the internal studios Treyarch and Raven Software are running the project.
“Looking to the future, Activision will continue to expand its direct digital relationship with this growing community by delivering the next premium rate for Call of Duty, which comes from the 100% Call of Duty studios Treyarch and Raven Software. We look forward to the planned release later this year. “
Rob Kostich, President of Activision Blizzard, added that the game was playable and that the game would include both a single player campaign and an online multiplayer component:
As you heard on the call, Treyarch and Raven are developing the next premium game. And of course very excited about what they’re working on and we believe fans will absolutely love it.
The game looks incredible right now. And internally, people have a lot of fun playing in both campaign mode and online mode, which the developers are very famous for. All I can say about timing is that I suspect you will hear more about it soon. “
The official Treyarch Twitter handle has secured this shortly afterwards with a tweet that expresses his enthusiasm for the prospect of the presentation of the new Call of Duty:
It is official. I look forward to showing you what we cooked with @ RavenSoftware!
