Amazon announces new features for its Alexa app. This is new after the software update:
In addition to a new, slim design, Amazon promises a new home screen with updated navigation. For iOS, Android and Fire OS, the software update should provide customers with access to frequently used app functions directly from the start screen.
Regular users should now receive personalized suggestions on the home screen. These are based on individual usage preferences, as Amazon reports. Customers should be able to see controls for functions that are currently active or that they use frequently.
In addition, the Alexa button should now appear at the top of the start screen. A dialogue with the speech recognition software can thus begin immediately. New customers receive suggestions for starting with Alexa, using Amazon Music or managing their shopping list, the company says. From now on, functions such as reminders, routines, skills or settings can also be called up via the “More” category.
The update is expected to appear worldwide in the course of the coming month, as the mail order company announces. All existing app customers should have access to the new functions by the end of August. The Alexa app is available free of charge in the Apple App Store, Amazon App Store and on Google Play.
