Google Chrome

Google Chrome

This is the stable version of the browser, the normal version of it. It is a version that receives news less frequently than the rest, since only those functions that have been tested are launched here and it is known for sure that they will give a good operation in it. When it is known that a function is ready to work without generating problems, then it launches in Google Chrome.

It is the version of the four that is least updatedAs a few minor changes are normally released every few weeks, while there is usually some big update every six weeks, although there is not always a fixed frequency. All the novelties are already stable, without any malfunctions.

This is the version that most users have on their Android phone. Since it is a secure, stable version that will not give problems in its operation on the phone, with a few exceptions. Although you have to wait longer when trying news.

Chrome Beta

The beta version of Google Chrome, the step before the new functions are released in the stable version of the browser. It is a fairly balanced version, as we can test the new features before they will be made available in the stable version. In addition, it usually has hardly any malfunctions, it is quite stable in general.

This is the version in which the latest tests are performed with the new functions. Features can usually be tested in this beta a month before they hit the stable version, generally, though it will depend on updates. It also serves to give feedback to Google on the operation of the functions, usually to correct small bugs, which can be resolved quickly.

This version is updated every week, with minor changes, while important news usually take several weeks to get to it. A good version to be able to test the news that will arrive in Google Chrome before they are released in the stable version of the popular browser, without there being any risks or operational problems.

Chrome Dev

Possibly the least known of the versions of Google Chrome for most users. This is a version that it is mainly oriented to developers or advanced users, who seek to be able to test the novelties, although it suffers failures with certain frequency. It is less stable than the previous two, but more stable than Canary. The idea is that Google can be given feedback on the functions and news and the general operation of this version.

Some of the features that are tested in this version never reach beta or stable version the browser. The aim is to test whether they are functional, whether they are useful and whether or not they generate problems in the browser, to decide whether or not to go to the next version. It is the main purpose of this version.

It is usually updated quite frequently, although less than Canary. The usual thing is that every week or at the latest two weeks there is a new update available for Chrome Dev.

Canary

Chrome Canary is the most unstable version of the browserWhich is something you are going to notice if you use it on your phone. In this version of the browser new functions of all kinds are launched, also hidden or experimental, without having been tested. Unlike other versions, it is not subjected to manual tests, which means that there is no control over the operation of these functions in this version, unlike in others.

This version is used to identify those faults that can cause problems in the stable version of Google Chrome. In this way, developers will be able to fix them and avoid problems in said version. It is used as the place to try any news, whether or not it will finally reach the browser.

Canary is also the version that is updated most frequently of all. It is automatically updated through Google’s servers every time there is a new development code in Chrome, something that happens almost every day. If you have this version installed on Android you will see that it is updated with great frequency, practically daily.

Now that we know more about these four versions of Google Chrome, it is important to know which one is interesting to install on Android. By default, most phones come with the stable version of the browser installed by default, where we have to wait longer to enjoy the new features that are introduced in it.

Install the beta version of the browser It may be the most interesting, for users who want to enjoy the news before they are released in the stable version, but also want a version where there are hardly any malfunctions, which is something that there is hardly any in the beta. So it offers a good combination of frequent updates and stability. If having news before time does not interest you or you do not value it as much, the classic version is always a good option.

The Dev and Canary versions are known to be unstable in their operation, in addition to being more developer-oriented, who seek to test the new functions as soon as possible. For an average user on Android they are not especially interesting, unless they are curious to try them on occasion.
