Amazon Prime Deal: New films starting today for 97 cents

New week, new prime deal. Also this weekend, Amazon Prime is offering its customers selected new films for rent for 97 cents each.

The psychological thriller “The Lodge” is one of the highlights on offer. This is the first Hollywood production by the Austrian directing duo Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. In the chamber play, two siblings are stuck in a snow-covered forest hut with their stepmother, with whom something seems to be wrong. The oppressive film combines family drama with subtle horror and a story about religious fanaticism.

The Peanut Butter Falcon is much happier. The tragicomedy tells of Zac, a young man with Down syndrome who exits from his nursing home. When he meets a petty criminal (Shia LaBeouf) on the way, the two men go on a road trip through the American southern states. In the reception, the touching strip was often compared to the stories of Mark Twain. That pretty much gets to the point!

However, one can clearly advise against “Cats”, which Amazon also offers for rent. In the musical adaptation, superstars such as Judi Dench, Jason Derulo and Taylor Swift were transformed into singing human-cat hybrids with disturbing CGI effects. The result was one of the biggest and most ridiculed cinema flops of the past year. Rather only recommended for disaster tourists!
