A month ago Apple released a major update for the iPhone and iPad – not to the fullest satisfaction, because some annoying bugs crept in. Somewhat surprising, because there is no direct announcement, Apple now provides the long-awaited bug fix.

Apple releases update to iOS 13.6.1: Goodbye green tint

Apple released the last update for iPhone and iPad about a month ago: iOS 13.6 and iPadOS 13.6. Since then, among other things, the Apple cell phone can be used as a digital car key for various BMW models. But the update also brought some errors – from greenish smartphone displays to the annoying Corona app. Apple is now addressing this and more with the update to iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1. The download (approx. 110 MB) is now available via the software update of the devices.

The package insert then also contains more precise information on troubleshooting on cell phones and tablets. Apple writes:

  • Fixed an issue where unnecessary system data files were not automatically deleted when the available space becomes low
  • Fixed an issue with temperature controls that could cause some displays to turn green
  • Fixed a problem in which meeting notifications can be deactivated for some users (note from GIGA: This bug fix should eliminate any problems with the Corona warning app, after all, it uses the actual Apple system log)

IOS 14 and iPadOS 14 will come in autumn. We can look forward to these features for the Apple tablet:

Also available: bug fix for the Mac

By the way: Apple also released another update for the Mac, but without a new version number. There is a so-called “additional update” for macOS 10.15.6, which originally appeared a month ago. Above all, stability problems of various virtualization programs such as VMware are addressed. But the recently introduced iMac is also being considered and with the update receives a minor bug fix in connection with hibernation. If you have not yet installed macOS 10.15.6, you will now receive the updated version with the update. Previous users of macOS 10.15.6 will receive the update without a new version number for download (approx. 3 GB).
