Crossplay is finally coming to Apex Legends, earlier than we thought. In a recently released TikTok video, Respawn software developer Jake Smullin confirmed that “cross-play is coming to Apex this fall.”
Apex Legends fans have been waiting a long time for cross-play to come into play, and it looks like we only have a few months left to wait. “It was one of the biggest requests we get, and we’re excited to finally get it to our fans.”

What does crossplay mean for Apex Legends?
Cross-Play will be available for Apex Legends on Origin, Steam, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. While crossplay can be a great thing, there is always concern that people on the PC have an advantage.
Overall, mouse and keyboard players generally find it easier to aim and are more competitive while playing. Of course, this probably doesn’t sound bad for PC users, but console users are understandably concerned.
This is one of the reasons why Smullin decided to switch to TikTok to calm down Apex players. He made it clear that players will only be in cross-play lobbies with PC players if there is a PC player on the team.
“I’ve seen a lot of console players worrying about it, but not. Everyone should be excited.”
This means that Apex Legends’ cross-play feature doesn’t compare the PC to console players by default, which is likely to be a relief for many.
Crossplay does not broadcast progress
Unfortunately, it looks like Crossplay is currently unable to sync your progress or purchases across platforms. This seems to be due to how the system was originally developed for Apex Legends.
Executive producer Drew McCoy said, “Unfortunately, we will never be able to cross-progress or cross-buy, which is a shit, but because of the way systems were set up early, we can do it after no longer reconciling fact. “
Although we will be able to play crossplay with Apex, the news that cross-progress is not possible could be a problem.
We’re not yet sure which release day for the cross-play feature, but we’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
