Apple releases iOS / iPadOS 13.6 update

About a week after the release of the iOS 13.6 Golden Master for beta testers, Apple has just released the distribution for all users. In addition to iOS and iPadOS, watchOS and tvOS have also been updated.

With what is probably the last major update before the version jump in autumn, Apple has just provided all operating systems with a new version of the operating systems. Apple already gave its first glimpse of the version released today at WWDC.

iOS 13.6

With iOS 13.6 you get support for digital car keys and a new symptom category in the “Health” app. This version also includes bug fixes and improvements.

Digital car keys

  • Unlock, lock and start compatible vehicles with your iPhone
  • Safely remove digital car keys from lost devices via iCloud
  • Easily share digital keys with iMessage
  • Driver-specific profiles for configuring shared keys for full access or restricted driving
  • Power reserve to unlock and start your vehicle up to five hours after the iPhone runs out of power

Health

  • New category for symptoms in the “Health” app, including the symptoms logged by “Cycle log” and “EKG”
  • Ability to log and share symptoms such as fever, chills, sore throat, and cough with third-party apps

This update also includes bug fixes and other improvements.

  • A new setting enables automatic downloads to the device when there is a WLAN connection

  • Fixed an issue where apps might stop responding when syncing data with iCloud Drive

  • Fixed an issue where data roaming would appear to be disabled on the eSIM even though it remained active

  • Fixed an issue where calls from Saskatchewan, Canada appear to be in the United States

  • Fixed an issue where audio could be interrupted when making calls as WiFi calls

  • Fixed an issue that prevented some iPhone 6S and iPhone SE devices from registering for WiFi calls

  • Resolves an issue in which the software keyboard unexpectedly appears when connecting to certain third-party hardware keyboards

  • Fixed an issue where Japanese hardware keyboards were incorrectly mapped as US keyboards

  • Correction of stability problems when accessing the control center when AssistiveTouch is activated

  • A function for administrators with which the specified domains can be excluded from network traffic with VPN connections always switched on

iPadOS 13.6

Beta phases for autumn upgrades are already underway

The beta phases for the major version jumps on iOS / iPadOS / tvOS / HomePodOS 14, MacOS 11 and watchOS 7 are already running. Both developers and volunteer testers can already have a look at the innovations. However, installation on productive devices is still strongly discouraged.
