On July 18, the ARD starts its big annual radio festival. Concerts, cabaret, jazz and much more should be heard on the culture waves and online.
Classical events, recordings of European jazz festivals and 40 stories written by well-known authors especially for the festival will run every evening until 8 September on the ARD cultural programs. Background discussions, cabaret performances and lots of music should complete the offer. The program can also be listened to on ardradiofestival.de, as the SWR reported.
The concert highlights of the ARD Radio Festival include the live broadcast of the season opening of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the live broadcast of the premiere of “Elektra” from the Salzburg Festival or the Castorf production of the “Ring des Nibelungen” by the Bayreuth Festival 2015 belong.
The festival was able to win Doris Dörrie, Felicitas Hoppe, Terezia Mora and Marcel Beyer for the literary part of the festival. With the artists’ own narrations, ARD Kulturradios want to set an example for literature in the time of Corona.
To kick off, listeners can start the festival with “Carmen” from the Berlin State Opera on July 18 at 8:04 pm. The performance was recorded on March 12 as a ghost and solidarity concert. On July 19, starting at 8:00 p.m., there will be a three-hour journey through the European choral landscape with, among other things, all choirs of the ARD and other European broadcasters. From July 20, works by Debussy, Wagner and Mozart by members of the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin will be heard on weekdays.
