This year we still have some big steps ahead in the PC industry. Apart from Apple Silicion, admittedly a marginal topic in the light of the industry, we still expect USB 4.0 – and Thunderbolt 4 was also announced last week. This means that one thing is inevitable: chaos.
Let’s start with a short summary: USB 4.0 runs mostly under the motto “Almost everything can, almost nothing has to”. The Thunderbolt 4 announced last week, however, runs under the motto “Almost everything is mandatory”, but brings little innovation.
Thunderbolt 4 with universal cables and the same speed
The maximum bandwidth of Thunderbolt 4 remains at 40 Gb / s, but more displays are now supported. Two 4K displays or one 8K display can soon be used. The other changes can be found in the chart – in the end, the availability of universal cables is particularly interesting.
Apple stays with Thunderbolt
As we now know, Apple continues to rely on Thunderbolt, but which version remains open.
