No doubt gaming in the 21stst Century is better than ever. Games like Sea of Thieves with its beautiful rolling seas. Or the endless expanse of emptiness in Star Citizen with gas giants and lunar landscapes that take your breath away.
Seeing them in crisp 1440p (4k) definition is almost like seeing these games through new eyes. With the latest and greatest 1440p monitors, finding the best monitor for your needs can be difficult.
PC gaming leads the way in terms of performance and quality. As PC gamers, we demand the best. A bad monitor can make or break a great system.
Waiting? Why is that important, it’s just a monitor. Just a monitor? A bad monitor holds you back as a player. It will leave you in the dust against the competition.
Not only does the highest possible definition give you a better advantage (finding and recognizing goals through FPS is easier), you can also fully appreciate the hard work and effort put into the art behind these amazing titles.
I have compiled for you a list of the best 1440p monitors available for you today. There are a wide range of requirements and this list will reflect that. I’ll show you the cheapest monitor. The best bang for your buck. The best and everything in between.
So buckle up and buckle up. It’s time to explore some options in monitors. Do not worry. There will be something on this list that suits your needs, desires, and budget!

Best 1440p G-Sync monitors
If you’ve recently invested in a newer Nvida graphics processor, then you seriously need to get one of these G-Sync monitors. These monitors are designed for Nvdia cards to take advantage of their variable refresh rate technology. This is to give you the smoothest performance yet.
1 ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27 ″
If I’m a bit of an Asus fan, it’s because I’m a huge fan. They make great products.
The Republic of Gamers (ROG) line of products is simply one of the best. With the latest G-Sync technology, Nvdia users can use the full spectrum of their card with this monitor.
You have passed the 144 Hz limit and are breaking into the other side with a whopping 165 Hz refresh rate. The days of tears, smears and I can say it again … I hate movement BLUR … are over! This gives you some of the best, smoothest gaming experiences ever. It keeps you in the loop and can keep up no matter how much is happening on the screen at once.
These artists and programs spend a lot of time giving us these full and haunted worlds. So it’s nice to be able to experience them in this fidelity.
At this price point, it’s hard to justify having some of these suction cups. This is more of what I was talking about as the primary monitor backed by two lower cost monitors. Use one of them as the centerpiece when thinking of a series of displays. This will help keep what you see right in front of your character of the highest quality. After all, front towards the enemy.
Of course, as Asus, they continue to provide you with professional customer service and are a great product replacement in case something should happen to their monitors. They’ve also incorporated the same eye-friendly technology into their other monitors that offer the same low blue and flicker experience.
It comes standard with the Vesa mount which is AMAZING and allows you to attach this to monitor arms or wall mounts. I can only recommend these mounts when I see them on a product.

2 Acer Predator XB271HK
I know I used to be a bit critical of Acer. They make good products, don’t get me wrong. The Acer Predtor is a prime example of one of these products. This is one of the most superior and best options in terms of a good monitor with the latest G-Sycn technology.
Let me repeat once again how great this really is. It gives you the best performance with little to no stutter, lag, smears, tears, or the nasty and hated motion blur. The Predator crushes the most in these terms, giving you a top-notch 144Hz refresh rate, so you can still get the sharpness and performance expected from the latest monitors. When you add this with G-Sync technology, you have a seamless gaming experience that allows you to take full advantage of the newer generation of graphics cards.
Like the Asus, the Predator has a steep price tag that matches its latest technology. However, it i
s important to note that there will be some monitors coming out soon that will offer both G-Sync and Free Sync technology. A fall in prices is to be expected for both individual monitors in the future.
This will open many doors for most of us. This is a great option to get the best performance from your card and not kill your bank. However, if you just can’t wait and want one of these now, they are an excellent choice.
The stand is compatible with the Vesa brackets, which is of course excellent and offers you many mounting options. Acer has made good use of the space and size with this monitor, and it seems that hardly any space is wasted. Each piece seems to serve a purpose and hardly distracts you while playing.

1440P Monitors Perfect for ALL levels of play
In this section, I’m going to focus on what I think is the best all-round gaming monitor. Not top notch, but not quite at the bottom either. These are great for all levels of gamers and PC builds.
1 Asus MG278Q WQHD 27-inch 1440p monitor
If you’ve been into PC gaming for a while, you know Asus is the name you should trust when it comes to quality products.
I’m writing this on an Asus ROG laptop now, they make good products. When I looked at the Asus MG278Q 27-inch monitor, I wasn’t surprised to see a great product.
The 27-inch monitor provides the end user with an image with a resolution of 2560 × 1440 and a response time of less than 1 ms. This gives you a HUGE reduction in smears, tears, and that godly motion blur. It has Asus eye care technology with TÜV-certified flicker-free and a blue light filter.
This is to ensure less eye fatigue. Less eye fatigue means fewer annoying and painful headaches that may arise when playing or watching a monitor for an extended period of time.
This also helps with nightly game sessions or projects that keep you busy, so your eyes are less stressed and you stay awake when the lights go out!
A good monitor is nothing if it has a bad refresh rate. This bad boy does the job! With a refresh rate of 144Hz, you’ll get seamless performance with lag-free and smooth gameplay.
There’s nothing worse than stuttering in performance in the middle of an epic battle that can mean the difference between winning and losing.
Regardless of how you want to set up your system, you have this monitor covered. It has a tilt / swivel head that sits on a stable platform base. This makes for an ergonomic design that gives you comfort.
If the base is not good enough for your needs, the monitor can be wall mounted. So the sky really is the limit for setup, and it’s now even easier to have multiple monitor displays thanks to Asus.
There were some disadvantages with these monitors. They had some issues with dead pixels and the screens dying on people. It’s a problem that has been resolved and that they continue to monitor. Pun intended.

2 BenQ ZOWIE eSports QHD 2560 × 1440 MONITOR: Black eQualizer
The BenQ ZOWIE is the official monitor for eSports and events like the MLG CS: GO Major Championship. All over the world, this monitor is known as the point of contact for most eSports tournaments and teams.
That right there should tell you everything you need to know about this monitor, but I wouldn’t be doing my job if I stopped telling you more!
The Zowie offers something that is without a doubt a basic requirement for a great monitor. With the help of Black eQualizer technology, it can help to give darker / black scenes a much richer and sharper visual clarity.
This was specially developed with optimizations for titles like CS: GO and Overwatch. You will literally no longer be left in the dark when you have this available.
Like any good monitor that’s worth its salt, it has the required 144Hz refresh rate. This gives you a real-time response rate of 1ms. Like with the Asus, you don’t have to deal with a lot of stuttering and lag that comes with tears and smears.
You also have your eyes and head in your eye, with low blue light technology and a flicker-free display that helps reduce this terrible eye strain. We are seeing more and more that this is becoming the standard for monitors. You will later find that eye strain is an issue if you don’t use a monitor with these features.
The only real problem I noticed is the microphone jack. It doesn’t seem to work when run at 144 Hz refresh rate. It’s not a huge problem, but if you were counting on using the handy built-in headphone and mic jacks, the mic at 144Hz won’t work with the screen.

Best 1440p Monitors on a Budget!
Building this gaming PC can really damage your old wallet. So I came up with some great options for their price. With these budget options, you can start with the 1440p gaming experience and save some money on other hardware or accessories.
1 BenQ GL2706PQ Black 27 ”1 ms (GTG) 60Hz 1440p Gaming Monitor
In line with the BenQ performance standard, this monitor is actually pretty good considering its low sticker price. You still get many of the same features as other, more expensive monitors, such as: B. the 1 ms response rate. Of course, you don’t get the same 144Hz refresh rate at this price point, so you’ll have some issues with some of the more powerful games.
The refresh rate on this monitor is 60Hz, so you can still play and have a pretty good time. If you switch from 1080p to 1440p, you probably won’t notice any real negative effects.
Your eyes will be calm at this level too, as this is where the low blue light and anti-flicker technology come into play. I can’t stress how wonderful this really is for someone who spends a lot of time on their pc. There is nothing worse than the headache that can affect you in many intense FPS action games. These features greatly reduce this problem. This is something that you will need to consider as the standard for all of your monitors in the future.
The easy-to-set-up design makes having multiple monitors a breeze. At this price point, it’s hard not to get two or three of them instead of one or two more of the landmark.
This is ideal for people who are planning larger builds for the future and want to jump up to bigger and better monitors / systems.

2 Acer G257HU smidpx 25-inch WQHD widescreen monitor (2560 x 1440)
This is without a doubt a bare bones monitor that will get you up and running. For those of us who are upgrading from a 1080p experience to a 1440p experience, Acer has covered us.
Acer has been a trusted name in computers for many decades, so this name is trustworthy. Acer is not known for providing the highest quality or the best in its products. It offers a great entry-level option for those of us who don’t want to break the bank on builds.
This monitor will be a significant upgrade from older monitors, but it will lag behind others in its class.
That doesn’t mean that these monitors are bad at all. The picture quality is fine and you can enjoy many of the features that gaming in a 1440p world offers.
You can safely set up multiple monitors at this price. This is perfect for flight sim / space sim pilots, FPS junkies, and people working on projects.
If I were to create a setup and wanted 3 monitors, I would invest in one of the higher quality ones listed above and add two of these monitors. Because your focus area will be centered multiple times anyway.
These monitors are light, slim, and easy to set up. I’m not a huge fan of their base as they are by no means a deal breaker. Just be aware that they are not the best quality.
The response rate will be much slower than with other models. This is again reflected in the costs. It makes a big difference if the response rate is reached in 4 ms, although it is still not “high”. For some people, it can be a deal breaker. It is still a great monitor for its price and I stand by it as a recommendation for the more budget conscious gamer.

Best 1440p Free Sync Monitors
1 ASUS MG279Q WQHD
As with Nvida cards that take advantage of G-Sync technology, AMD users get the same experience with monitors equipped with Free Sync technology. This gives users a variable update rate. Let me explain what that means for you. A variable refresh rate means your monitor can switch between different refresh rates as you play in order to get the best picture available.
If you are playing a game at more than 60 fps and you notice increases and decreases in FPS, the refresh rate will automatically adjust so you don’t get those tears.
You saw me talk about tears for a while. So what is a tear? A crack occurs when the monitor tries to display many frames at once, but the game limits it. This is vertical synchronization. This adjusts that and prevents those tears. Both Free Sync and G-Sync go a step further and offer you a much better experience.
Get the most out of your AMD card and get into 4k gaming by investing in a monitor that uses this great free syncing technology.
In keeping with the standard Asus design, this monitor is ideal for multiple setups and can be easily mounted on walls or monitor arms. The design of these monitors allows you to have your “best and brightest” centerpiece monitor, but other, cheaper monitors can cover your flanks as well.
Just like Asus’ previous models, they offer the possibility to protect your eyes with their patented technology that prevents this annoying and painful eye strain. They also have an ergonomic design that will help you set them up so that they don’t become a literal pain in the neck.

2 LG Electronics 27UD68P-B 27 inch LED monitor with screen lighting
It doesn’t happen often, but it is what I love most about my job. It’s when I find a product that is perfect for gaming but is not marketed for gaming. People can often overlook them.
LG has a great 1440p monitor that takes advantage of Free Sync technology, which is almost a requirement these days if you’re using a modern AMD graphics card. LG is known for making some pretty good TVs and other home electronics products.
I have a LG TV. When I saw this monitor, I was paying attention, simply because I really enjoy my TV.
LG goes out of its way to offer you a superior product at a much cheaper price. That’s a lot of fun with AMD products. They always seem to give you a little bit more for your money. They are often cheaper, but just as good as their competitors.
I suppose it really boils down to personal choice because both are great options and this LG monitor drives h
ome with its price on how great that option is.
This gives you the opportunity to consider better subsequent monitors when considering multiple displays, or you could even consider adding one or two more to add to your collection. Just having this as an option is great.
I’m not that big of a fan of the stand on this monitor, and it doesn’t bring the added bonus of the Vesa mount so you need to get creative with wall or pole mounting this monitor.
Overall, this is a great monitor for its price. It gives you the added benefit of being compatible with the latest AMD cards, and like the others, the price of these cards will go down as they bring out monitors that can do both! So get it now or wait later and get more.
Best 1440p Ultra-Wide Curved Monitors
Now we come to the BIG BOYS in the 1440p monitor world. The ultra-wide cured monitors eliminate the need for multiple displays and offer many options for the end user.
Since there are many options (Free Sync and G-Sync) for both AMD and Nvdia users, I decided to show you one of each to cover these basics. These are great for FPS and flight simulations, and offer many of the same features as multiple monitors.
1 ASUS Designo Curved MX34VQ 34 ”
Once again Asus shows us what you can do with this EXCELLENT monitor.
The Designo Curved 34-inch monitor offers you many of the same functions as other Asus monitors. They have great product design and back end support. This monitor also includes the faint blue light and no flicker technology which is undoubtedly an eye protector.
This monitor is designed for AMD users as it utilizes the Free Sync technology that we have all come to love and enjoy. The benefit of having this technology available means a wide-angle gaming experience that is not limited by its size.
You can see that with these larger screens, you have some performance loss in terms of refresh rate. The best thing you can really expect from these wider monitors is 100 Hz. This is still far better than the 60 Hz that most are used to with 1080p and other 1440p monitors at the bottom. It’s not bad, just not as good as the smaller 144Hz and 165Hz monitors.
The design of this monitor is really excellent. The sundial format gives you a frameless view so you can enjoy one of the widest screens without sacrificing visual quality or fidelity. You get a 35% larger display area than a conventional monitor.
With an Ultra High ratio of 3000: 1, your colors never appear livelier and livelier, so you have access to all available hues, including black and a little darker black. Without a doubt, this provides an added bonus, especially for FPS players, as it makes it easier for them to spot targets.
It also has a built in bonous of a charger for your electronic devices. So you no longer have to spend days with extra cables around your PC while you charge your phone. Now you can just put it on the stand and let go!
This is a great feature especially if you are using your phone to keep up to date on discord and other apps in games with friends. Or for easy communication while streaming without leaving the game or pausing your content.

2 AOC AGON AG352UCG 35 inch monitor for curved games
The AOC Agon AG352UCG monitor returns to the world of widescreen gaming but is located in the G-Sync arena. Like the monitor mentioned earlier, this really helps those of us who want multiple monitors but may not have the extra GPUs or the space needed for the extra monitors.
Like the Free Sync monitor, this is a G-Sync monitor and is only compatible with Nvdia cards if you expect to get the most out of both of them. This gives you the extra technology the variable frame rates have so you can maximize performance and quality.
One area that makes this monitor stand out from the rest is the built-in “shadow” wheel, which allows you to control exactly how the shadows appear on your screen.
This can help you get a more realistic and better view of those darker areas and gives you the option to customize them for each of your games based on your preferences. I had never seen anything like it and found it quite interesting.
The fully adjustable stand allows you to adjust this bad boy any way you want so you are in the optimal field of view. This also includes the option to mount this monitor on a wall or on a monitor bar. So if you want to add more monitors or use the space a little better, you’ve come to the right place.
The ability to play widescreen games at 4k is pretty amazing, and this monitor really encompasses everything that is glorious about the experience.

1440p monitors for professionals
Not all of us need these monitors for gaming, and we may use them more for work than gaming. Here are a few options for the professional or perhaps the casual gamer who doesn’t need a lot of bells and whistles.
A higher resolution means a better design for art projects like photos and videos. So when you work with the 1440p resolution you get a lot more depth and control over your content.
1 ASUS VX24AH
I am a gamer. I do a lot of writing and video editing on the computer. I mostly play with them. So it’s difficult for me to break away from old habits.
The Asus VX24AH is actually a damn good gaming monitor. It’s great for the office and home. This monitor can be overclocked to 75Hz, which is a major improvement over the 60Hz experience you likely got before.
With a response rate of 1 ms, you can see videos and pictures in a higher quality than you would have ever thought possible. It will appear very real. This makes it easy for you to spot imperfections and things that you want to change and adjust.
One of the advantages I noticed while working with this monitor is that when using Windows 10 things don’t scale weirdly as you climb up to 4KB. You have a lot of extra space on your screen, but everything is easy to read and not blurry.
This gives you more space to work. If someone has ever edited movies, music, code, or pictures on a computer, it never feels like they have enough space. With this monitor you get space and do not lose quality.
This is not top notch. It does not have the same functions as headphone jacks or additional video outputs. What it comes with the same low blue light and anti-flicker technology that makes those eyes happy.
It won’t work on the Vesa mount either, which is a huge disappointment. The stand that comes with the monitor isn’t great and it’s a bum pain to move back and forth. I really wish it could use the Vesa mount.
(4.4 / 5)
2 AOC Q2778VQE LED-illuminated 27-inch monitor
I talk a lot about Asus, but I prefer the AOC for this category for several reasons.
I’ll start with the fact that the ACO Q2778vQE is Compatible with the Vesa mount so you can attach it to a wall or monitor bar. This greatly expands your options and gives you a lot more versatility in your setup.
I really wish more companies would make this mount standard easy, or at least offer some kind of compatibility add-on.
This monitor gives you pretty much all the features you would expect from the Asus. Only the AOC has a decent mount for your desk. So if you don’t choose the Vesa mount, there are still plenty of customizations to be made.
I mentioned the ability to edit better earlier. Allow me to expand this with this monitor
It has the ability of 20,000,000: 1 intelligent contrast, giving you an absolutely stunning and vivid picture that is easy to manipulate, blow up, and edit like never before. You can crop and edit videos and fine-tune them to expand your editing options. You can find incomplete areas with photos to make fine adjustments like no other.
The refresh rate on this monitor is not as good as on the previous one. It can’t be overclocked so it’s stuck at 65Hz.
