"Blues Brothers" original returns to the cinema in UHD quality

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary, Cinemaxx brings the musical comedy back to the big screen once.

40 years of “Blues Brothers” – that has to be celebrated! On this occasion, the cinemaxx shows the cult musical film in a one-time re-release as an extended version across Germany on Wednesday, July 22. A full 15 minutes of additional material are embedded in this version and the image quality has been upgraded to 4K.

“It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we have enough petrol in our tank, half a packet of cigarettes, it’s dark and we’re wearing sunglasses!” This quote represents a cult that John Landis started with his film in 1980 – and an unexpected one at the same time Blues and soul revival in the charts and in the cinema triggered. To finally get better, the ex-boy Jake Blues (John Belushi) and his brother Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) want to bring their old band back together to get the $ 5,000 that the orphanage where they are missing grew up earlier. But while the brothers are doing everything they can to realize their plan, soon the police are not the only thing behind them.

Tickets for “The Blues Brothers Extended Version” are available online for 4.99 euros. When visiting the cinema, the new safety and hygiene concepts must be observed.
