Bose Revolve Plus, the speaker to throw a party anywhere

Bose Revolve Plus, the speaker to throw a party anywhere

A portable but powerful speaker: that’s the Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus. It’s the big brother to the Bose family of Bluetooth speakers, of which we’ve recently seen the Revolve (no plus) or the Color. It is on sale here for 270 euros (normal price 300 euros).

As we said the Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus is the Bluetooth speaker larger Of the brand. Compared to the Bose Revolve model (no plus) this one is taller (18 cm vs 15), wider (10 cm vs. 8) and weighs more (900 grams vs. 660). Thanks to the greater space, you can mount a battery with more capacity: it offers up to 16 hours of autonomy (compared to 12 the Revolve to dry).

Otherwise, the design and concept are the same: metal outer shell, in one-piece extruded aluminum. It is finished off at the top, where the buttons are, by a section of resistant rubber. Underneath it also has rubber and a thread in case we want to put it on a tripod (same measurement as the cameras). It is resistant to splashing water, that is, IPX4 certified. Although we cannot throw it in the water (it is not submersible) we can have it next to the pool in summer, or in the bathroom in winter. Additionally Bose notes that the speaker is resistant to (slight) drops. Thanks to its structure and rubber parts, it can withstand falls without damage.

360 degrees: one speaker and two radiators

The Bose Revolve get a authentically “360 degree” soundThat is, if we put it to sound on a table and walk around, we will not see changes in tone. Perfect for meetings, although this form of diffusion also welcomes a nearby wall (between half a meter) to reflect the sound towards the terrace, for example.

It mounts a single active, circular speaker placed horizontally at the bottom and directed downward. At the base, there is a circular acoustic diffuser that distributes the sound in all directions. This speaker is all-band, that is, it reproduces bass, mid and treble. Really what “expands” in all directions are mids and highs, and for bass it is aided by two rectangular speakers located on the upper part of the Revolve body (passive radiators). This avoids the need for a reflex bass, which would get along badly with humidity. This physical distribution, plus Bose’s electronic “magic” in processing and equalizing the signals, turn these speakers into something worth listening to.

The Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus has a battery that we can charge through its micro USB port, or with an optional base. The battery announces 16 hours of autonomy. Connectivity, in addition to USB (only for charging), has an auxiliary stereo input (the classic 3.5 mm jack) very practical for any portable sound source.

But above all this is a speaker Bluetooth. As you know, this allows you to link your mobile or other compatible device and send music with ease, at distances of up to approximately ten meters. Connected to our mobile, the Bose Soundlink Revolve Plus It has a button dedicated to “call” attendees, Siri (iOS) or Google (Android). It also serves as a practical “hands-free” for phone calls. Thanks to its 360 degree sound and its sensitive microphone, family or office colleagues can be around the table talking to whoever it takes.

Bose Connect

Downloading the application Bose Connect on the mobile we can access more functions and customize specific configurations of our usual use. The application also makes sure to notify us if there is a new firmware, to update it. When there are new functions, or product improvements through this means, we can do it quickly and easily.

A very interesting feature recently arrived: the Bose SimpleSync, with which we can synchronize several Bose Bluetooth speakers. Ideal to organize a party, or to sound up a house with different rooms. There are also two modes, called party mode and stereo mode, designed for when we have more than one speaker. The party mode will synchronize the music in the two as above, but the stereo will send the music of your channel (left or right) to each speaker. It is even possible sync a Home speaker (with network connection, Wifi) to send music to Bose Bluetooth speakers, so we don’t need the mobile as a source but only as a control point.
