With a podcast, Bavarian Radio wants to give insights into the life and beliefs of Muslims in Germany. The journalist Merve Kayikci will moderate the six episodes of “Primamuslima – We talk with you!”, Said the BR on Monday in Munich.
The 26-year-old wanted to take the listeners in an entertaining way into the religious, professional and family life of her protagonists. Incidentally, they incorporate basic knowledge of Islam. It should start on July 30th for the Islamic Festival of Victims.
The project is a heart project for her, said the Stuttgart native, who is a Muslim herself and has experience with podcasts. In 2019 she won the “Originals sucht” competition by Deezer and re: publica with “Mashallah”.
In her new project, Kayikci spans a wide range: there are talks about life, love, friendship and politics, about work and family, about God. “Even what makes life difficult for Muslims in Germany is not ignored,” says the message.
“There are an estimated 500,000 Muslims living in Bavaria,” said Sylvie Stephan from the BR Culture Program. “The podcast wants to clear up clichés and show what Muslims are doing in Bavaria and Germany.”
