The Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga start the 2020/21 season on September 18. The DFL has just released the fixtures. The Champions League could get in the way of the start.
The season opener is actually due to the reigning German champions, so FC Bayern would face Schalke 04 on Friday, September 18. But due to the corona-related postponements of the Champions League, the final will not take place until August 23rd – Should Bayern Munich reach the final, there would be little preparation time for the Bundesliga.
For this reason, the club has a small grace period: The game will then run on Monday, September 21. In this respect, the season would begin on Fridays with the encounter between Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Two matches will take place in the 2. Bundesliga at the start of the coming season on September 18: Hamburger SV is expecting Fortuna Düsseldorf, SSV Jahn Regensburg will face 1. FC Nürnberg. Kick-off is at 6.30 p.m.
