Video – Display – Processor and memory – Camera – Battery – Connections – Price – Photos
Huawei has released 3 different versions of its 2020 Lite model, whose most interesting model is the Huawei P40 Lite 5G that we analyze in this technical sheet. It is a model that changes its design and specifications and not just connectivity options.
Processor, screen, camera and battery also undergo changes in a smartphone that is postulated as the best mid-range of 2020.
This review of the original P40 Lite (not to be confused with the P40 Lite E) it lands in May 2020 in Spain from 499 euros but with different promotions that lower its price. This video of the Huawei P40 Lite 5G anticipates much of the news on the mobile.
Regarding the P40 Lite we did not find too many changes in this aspect of us because the screen of the Huawei P40 Lite 5G es something bigger. This time the perforated screen format is maintained to accommodate a selfie lens but in a 6.5-inch size- With the same FullHD + resolution of 2400 x 1080 this generates a density of 405 dpi.
Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, the smartphone features HDR 10 compatibility, 16 million colors and capacitive touch technology.
Processor and memory
The new and improved Kirin 820 7nm It boasts a balanced chipset that incorporates an advanced 8-core CPU, a 6-core GPU, and a proprietary NPU, which leverages artificial intelligence and takes the phone to a higher level of performance. The Kirin ISP 5.0 works to ensure that image processing and photo / video noise removal are top-notch in all the scopes.
At the graphic level, it is the protagonist for its Mali-G57 GPU that offers above-average performance when running the most demanding Android apps and games, as long as they are downloaded from the App Gallery because, remember, the smartphone does not have Google’s mobile services. In exchange we can use the Huawei GPU Turbo that improves the performance of the smartphone when it comes to running certain types of video games.
The smartphone goes on sale with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage supporting expansion using NMCard cards up to 256 GB.
Huawei recovers a more classic design for the Huawei P40 Lite 5G camera and it organizes the four rear cameras around a rectangular module that is located in the upper left corner and that features a 64 MP main sensor with f / 1.79 aperture and 4-in-1 pixel bining technology. This lens is accompanied by a large sensor 8MP wide angle with an f / 2.4 aperture that offers a 120 degree field of view, a 2MP macro sensor with an f / 2.4 aperture that allows focus on objects close to a distance of 4 cm, and a last sensor of 2MP for effects bokeh and to obtain aid to the focus.
These sensors allow us to record videos in 4K quality at 30 fps but, if we reduce the resolution we can work with slow-motion captures of up to 960 fps that allow us to collect imperceptible moments for the human eye. For its part, the front lens is capable of recording videos at FullHD but at 30 fps.
This front sensor that is housed in the perforation of the screen reaches a resolution of 16 MP and has an f / 2.0 aperture that helps improve the lighting of the Super Night Selfie 2.0 mode that allows you to capture self-portraits with better light at night and indoors. .
The AI present in the Huawei Kirin 820 Mobile allows you to recognize almost twenty different scenes to adjust the automatic shooting in search of the perfect image. In addition, through the camera we have access to HiVision and the intelligent tools for recognizing the world around us to know what object we are seeing, translate texts in real time or analyze the calories of a certain food.
The brand phone has less battery than the original P40 Lite, a negative point if we consider that 5G connectivity requires more energy. In total we have a 4,000 mAh cell with support for the HUAWEI SuperCharge 40 W solution that in half an hour can charge more than half of the phone.
There are no data on the duration times of this battery but you should have no problem exceeding 24 hours of autonomy under normal use.
As for connectivity, the Huawei P40 Lite 5G It essentially stands out for being a 5G mobile phone compatible with the NSA and SA standard (n1 2100 MHz, n3 1800 MHz, n28 700 MHz, n38 2600 MHz, n41 2500 MHz, n77 3700 MHz, n78 3500 MHz, n79 4700 MHz). As for WiFi, dual-band Wi-Fi support 802.11a (5GHz), 802.11ac (2.4GHz), 802.11b (2.4GHz), 802.11g (2.4GHz), 802.11n (2.4GHz)
The smartphone also boasts Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and FM Radio but it lacks the Google Play Store.
On a physical level, we have a 3.5mm headphone port, a USB Type-C port for battery charging and data transfer between mobile and PC, and a fingerprint sensor located on the right hand side of the phone, on the power button.
Main differences from the P40 Lite
Obviously the 5G connectivity that appears mentioned in the name of the phone is the main difference between this model and its counterpart launched a few weeks ago. It has compatibility with NSA and SA networks, which means that when they are 100% operational in Spain, download speeds of up to 20 Gbps could be achieved.
But the compatibility with these networks is not the only thing that changes since the heart of the phone is also different. This time we have a Kirin 820, similar in performance to the Kirin 810 of the original P40 Lite, also manufactured in 7nm, but offering compatibility with 5G networks. In addition, this processor is accompanied by a superior GPU, in this case a Mali G57.
To this we have to add a slight increase in the screen, growing to 6.5 inches, also with Full HD + resolution and in this case HDR10, which the standard model lacks. The design with hole in the screen is maintained and allows you to enjoy a higher ratio between body and panel.
Where the design does change is in the back where the square module disappears in favor of a vertical one with better lenses, especially when talking about the main sensor. Here we change the 48 Mp sensor of the P40 Lite for a 64 MP sensor that accompanies an 8 megapixel wide angle, 2 megapixel macro and 2 megapixel depth sensor that does not change in this P40 Lite 5G.
Unfortunately the last change is for bad and is that the 4000 mAh battery is 200 mAh inferior to that of the model launched a couple of months ago.
The mobile is already available in our country with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The Huawei P40 Lite 5G price It is 399 euros on sale but generally costs 499 euros and can be purchased in silver, black and green.
