Aiways U5 – this is not a new model from a British airline (with a spelling mistake), but a new SUV from China that can now also be ordered in Germany. The manufacturer has chosen an unusual partner to sell the electric car. GIGA has all the information about the China car.
Aiways U5: Electric SUV can be pre-ordered from electronics retailers
Space for up to five people and a range of 400 km – the Aiways U5, an electric SUV from China, is therefore also suitable for family trips on the weekend. The e-car can now be pre-ordered in Germany, from electronics retailer Euronics of all places. Aiways does not have its own network of sales partners in this country. Pre-orders for the China car will start today, August 14, 2020.
The cheapest version of the E-SUV costs 37,990 euros, premium equipment is available from 40,990 euros. Less the subsidy for electric cars, which will be available until the end of 2021, you can get the Aiqays U5 for less than 30,000 euros – a real economy price.
The corona pandemic also caused delays in the Aiways U5: Production of the model series for 2021 is now set to start in August. From September on it will be possible to see in an online configurator how the standard and premium versions of the U5 differ. Test drives with the new model series should also be possible from September.

Delivery of the China car in October
Euronics has published the dates for road shows in numerous branches on its website. In October, the first models are to be delivered to customers, as Aiways wants to bring the E-SUV to Europe on rails – and thus save a lot of time compared to shipping.
The U5 has a 140 kW motor and a 63 kWh battery. A charging process from 30 to 80 percent should only take about 27 minutes on direct current fast chargers. The top speed of the SUV, which is in direct competition with the Skoda Enyaq iV, is 160 km / h. Euronics highlights the LED front and rear lights as well as the “multidirectional 360-degree all-round view”, which is provided by twelve ultrasonic sensors, five HD cameras, three millimeter-wave radar sensors and two indoor cameras. There are also a number of safety systems, including an emergency brake assistant and a blind spot warning system.
