The German Corona warning app will soon be available in another five languages.
“The versions Arabic, Polish, Bulgarian, Romanian and Russian are currently under development,” said Digital Minister of State Dorothee Bär (CSU) of the “Rheinische Post” (Tuesday). So far, the app launched on June 16 in Germany is available in German, English and Turkish. The app is intended to help prevent the virus from spreading further.
With more than 16.4 million users so far, Germany has more downloads than all of Europe with its various apps, said Bär. The Corona warning app is now released in the app stores of all EU countries as well as Turkey, Switzerland and Norway and Great Britain.
Regarding the technical problems to date, the CSU politician said that there would always have to be improvements with such large IT projects. There were impairments in the background update of the app. “We therefore recommend opening the app once a day.” This ensures that all warning messages are displayed.
After technical problems on various smartphones, the Corona warning app received an update at the end of July. The latest version was designed to address technical issues on Apple’s iPhone.
The app is designed to help track and interrupt infection chains. If there was an encounter with someone who later tested positive for the corona virus, the cell phone should inform the owner. The app can also help people get their results faster after a test.
