Dark mode comes to Google Docs: Documents, Spreadsheets …

Having spent almost a year since its launch in a stable version, we can say that Android 10 has been a turning point for the integration of dark mode in the operating system.

There were many users, not only in Spain, but throughout the world who demanded that Android have a mode with black tones available by default in the system. This was not particularly difficult to do, but it was difficult to do well and, above all, make all applications compatible.

It took Google almost a year to officially offer its office suite, Google Docs, in dark mode, as it has just announced. Yes, we had already talked about it, but it is now when Google confirms that it will reach all users.

Google Docs already has official dark mode

After many months of work, Google has updated documents, spreadsheets and presentations to the dark mode of Android 10. As in other applications, these programs will automatically adapt to the theme that we have selected on our device. That is, if we have the dark mode on the mobile, these applications will open with the activated one.

If we want to choose the dark theme or the light theme regardless of what we have selected on the mobile, we can go to the application settings and select it:

  • Menu -> Settings> Themes> Dark.

New feature is already being activated for both Google account users and for those who use custom domains in G Suite.

However, Google warns that it can take even more than 15 days for 100% of users to receive the function on their mobile phones, since, as always, the update is staggered. While activating, we recommend that you keep all three applications updated:
