The first broadcast the DFB Cup final on Saturday – twice.
The 4th of July is about the DFB Cup, in both men’s and women’s soccer. The ARD shows both finals live. It starts in the afternoon with the women’s cup final. SGS Essen meets the defending champion and this year’s champion of the women’s Bundesliga VfL Wolfsburg. Claus Lufen moderates the broadcast from Cologne, supported by ARD expert Nia Künzer. Stephanie Baczyk commented the game live first at 4:45 p.m.
In the evening, Matthias Opdenhövel will present the men’s final live from the Berlin Olympic Stadium, in which a final of the DFB Cup will be played for the 36th time: Bayer 04 Leverkusen – FC Bayern Munich. ARD football expert Bastian Schweinsteiger will be there live for the first time. The former international and soccer world champion from 2014 has 49 appearances in the DFB Cup and is currently the undisputed record cup winner in Germany. He won the title a total of seven times in his career. Cup commentator is Tom Bartels.
Following the broadcasts of the DFB Cup final in the first, Alexander Bommes welcomes you live from Herten to a new edition of the “Sportschau Club”. He will discuss and classify the events of the evening with his guests Thomas Broich and Jérôme Polenz.
