Constantin Film and JB Pictures have produced a remake of “Black Beauty”. Disney + has now secured the rights to the horse classic.
As Constantin Film reports, the film is said to be a contemporary adaptation of Anna Sewell’s novel from the 19th century. It tells the story of the famous black wild horse, which is brought away by his family in the American West. At some point, Black Beauty meets Jo Green, who is currently mourning the loss of her parents. Man and animal become intimate friends. The classic has been filmed several times since the 1920s, both as a TV and cinema film and as a series.
The screenplay for the new edition was written by Ashley Avis (Adolescence), who also took over the directorial post. In addition, there is the horse drama with a large star cast. Mackenzie Foy (“Interstellar”), Iain Glen (“Game of Thrones”) and Kate Winslet (“Titanic”) play the leading roles.
As of the end of the year, the film should be part of the Disney + streaming program exclusively. An official trailer is currently still waiting.
