has secured the top position in the DxO Mark camera ranking with the Mi 10 Ultra. The latest smartphone from the Chinese provider has a total of 130 points. The previous top device, the P40 Pro, is now in second place with 128 points. and recently achieved 122 and 117 points with their flagship models Galaxy S20 Ultra and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The Mi 10 Ultra is a further development of the Mi 10 Pro, which was rated with 124 points. Xiaomi uses a 48-megapixel sensor for the main camera of the new device instead of the 108-megapixel sensor of the Pro version. The focal length of the telephoto lens was also calculated on the 35mm format, extended from 94 to 120 millimeters – with a resolution of 48 megapixels. The third camera of the Mi 10 Ultra has an ultra-wide angle lens with a focal length of 12 millimeters and a 20 megapixel sensor. A 12-megapixel sensor with a 50-millimeter lens finally rounds off the quad camera system.
“The exceptional photo rating is based on excellent still image performance in all test areas. In most cases, the camera has mastered all the basics such as target exposure, color rendering and white balance and offers a very large dynamic range that captures many details in both light and dark areas of a scene. This makes them ideal for recordings under difficult, high-contrast conditions, ”the testers concluded.
With a pure photo score of 142 points, the Mi 10 Ultra of the previous top dog Huawei P40 Pro only just stands out. Even in the individual evaluations, the two devices often only separate one or two points – with one exception: the testers rated the quality in the ultra-wide-angle range with 53 points for the Mi 10 Pro and 39 points for the P40 Pro.
In video mode, the device achieved the best results in the tests at a 2160p resolution with 60 frames per second. They were enough for a new record rating of 106 points in the video sector.
“The Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the new number one in the DXOMARK camera ranking, and rightly so. In photo mode it shows no real weaknesses and delivers best-in-class results in several categories. It is particularly impressive in the wide angle and zoom range, which makes it an ideal choice for anyone who wants the largest possible zoom range without compromising image quality. “
“It’s also a great tool for mobile videographers as it offers excellent overall video quality with efficient stabilization at 4K and a fast frame rate of 60 frames per second that makes for super smooth pans and movements. All in all, if it fits your budget, the new Xiaomi flagship phone is an easy recommendation for mobile content creators. “
So far, the Mi 10 Ultra is only available in China. It is not known whether Xiaomi will also bring it to Germany.
