Attention nerds! Today the San Diego Comic-Con starts with numerous panels and lectures. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however, not online, but only online.

First the bad news: like all major events, Comic-Con in San Diego had to be canceled this year – for the first time in its 50-year history. Typically, over 150,000 people gather at the largest fair of this kind to indulge with other fans of their favorite superheroes and series characters. With this number of people, the risk of infection is simply too great at the moment.

Now the good news: The organizers of Comic Con are broadcasting the highlights of this year’s nerd fair online. The Comic-Com @ Home now enables everyone to watch over 350 panel discussions and lectures from home. You don’t have to pay for this service. Until July 26, fans can click through the program schedule on the Comic-Con @ Home website and access a video on the Comic-Con YouTube channel. This either works with the selection of the respective day, but there is also the possibility of certain topics, e.g. “Marvel” to look for. The program items were recorded earlier and are still largely available after the fair.

Highlights include a panel discussion with the actors and makers of the “Star Trek” series and a conversation with “The Shape of Water” director Guillermo del Toro and Scott Cooper about making films. Lucasfilm also gives an insight into future projects around the Star Wars universe. In addition to stars and starlets, the Comic-Con program also offers lectures and discussions on topics such as creative writing and political correctness in film and television.

The organizers of the fair are also working with Amazon Prime Video this year (DIGITAL TERNSEHEN reported). In the night from July 23rd to 24th, four panels for the series “The Boy”, “Upload”, “Utopia” and “Truth Seekers” will take place. In addition, there will also be behind-the-scenes insights and fan question-and-answer sessions, including with Seth Rogan, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

Via Amazon Prime Video, fans can conveniently access all Comic-Con offers at this time.
