Google is ready to make its Gmail service an integrated work platform with several of its key services. As it has been observed in several filtered images, a deep facelift with new functions in the mail app that accompany this aesthetic change is appreciated.
If a few weeks ago we saw the integration of Meet with Gmail, now they wanted to go one step further with the incorporation of Google Docs, calendars, video call and email service directly within Gmail.
A strategy that seems more indicated to position Google tools so that you can set up your home office in a new context where teleworking is the norm.
Comprehensive work platform
Google wants to turn Gmail into a unified workspace that enables the cohesion of various company tools such as Docs, Meet or Calendar without leaving the application. Although it has not been officially announcedYes, some leaked images would have been found with the new look that Gmail would look like from the Cloud Next 2020 event.
This information has been filtered by Android Police, who published the images where we can perfectly appreciate the new design of the Gmail interface, to which are now added all this series of functions.
In the redesign we observed the insertion of new tabs for mail, chat, Rooms and Meet services. While the chat tab seems to lead you to open conversations with other users, from Rooms we would have an interface with a distribution by themes very similar to the Slack channels.
Obviously, these design changes would not only apply to the desktop version of Gmail, but we would see them too adapted in the app for mobile devices.
No official announcement yet, much less information about a possible availability date of these functions to all users of the platform. However, new details are expected very soon, possibly during the July 21 Cloud Next 2020 conference.
