The Google watch platform is updated: Android 11, new weather app and more.
Google today announced a new update for Wear OS, its platform for Smart Watches, which will hit models throughout this fall.
The update brings with it interesting news ranging from the support for the new Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor up to a new weather app, going through the update of the platform to Android 11.
WearOS launches a new version based on Android 11: all the news
The first big news announced by Google is the arrival of android 11 to the platform. This update promises an improvement of up to 20% in the speed when opening applications. It is worth mentioning that the current version of Wear OS is based on Android 9 Pie.
Also added support for the new Qualcomm watch processor, based on a 12 nanometer format. With this chip, Qualcomm aims to offer a better energy efficiency and substantially higher performance.
Google also includes a “New time experience”, with a renewed design that better fits the aesthetic lines of the platform:
Google has not specified dates for the rollout of this update, although it has confirmed that the new version will begin to the existing watches from autumn of this year.
