The large Sky construction project in north London obviously doesn’t have to fear corona delays. On the contrary: the building permit is now available.
The mega project is expected to create up to 3,000 jobs. Sky has cost three billion pounds for his new showpiece for film and series productions. After completion, which is targeted for 2022 and at least initially does not have to be postponed by Corona, the aim is to be able to shoot primarily Sky Originals in 14 studios on an area of over 20,000 square meters in Elstree, north of London.
The local city administration approved the construction on Wednesday, on the condition that the work should be completed by 2025 at the latest. In all likelihood, this window of time gives European production enough scope should something similar to Corona come in between.
Due to the generous dimensions, it should also be possible to carry out numerous external large-scale productions in Elstree. In winter, Sky mentioned companies like Universal Pictures, Working Titles, Focus Features that would already be on board when the construction project became known.
