“Moonfall” project: Hollywood director Roland Emmerich (64, “Independence Day: Return”) wants to get Oscar winner Halle Berry (53) in front of the camera for his next project.
Berry is said to play a major role in the sci-fi disaster film “Moonfall” alongside Josh Gad, as the US industry newspapers “Hollywood Reporter” and “Variety” reported during the week.
In “Moonfall”, the moon is carried out of its orbit by mysterious forces and races towards Earth. A colorful team of rescuers is sent into space to avert the catastrophe. Berry is said to be an ex-astronaut, Gad a scientist who predicted the catastrophe. Filming is scheduled for autumn in Montreal, Canada, if the coronavirus regulations allow it, it is said.
After joint scripts for the films “10,000 B.C.” and “2012”, Emmerich and co-author Harald Kloser also wrote the script for “Moonfall”. Most recently, the Stuttgart-born Emmerich brought the war drama “Midway” to the big screen.
Berry starred alongside Keanu Reeves in “John Wick: Chapter 3” in 2019. In 2002, Berry became the first African American to win the Oscar for Best Actress for her role in “Monster’s Ball”.
