Huawei continues to work on increasing the ecosystem of applications of its smartphones. This is especially important given that it is still unable to use Google apps and services, and it seems that the situation is going to be long.
A few weeks ago launched Petal Search, a meta search engine in the form of a widget that allowed the user to search for applications both within their mobile phone and n alternative stores in the event that they did not have them installed.
In this way, I tried to avoid the problem of not having applications such as YouTube or Gmail, but the Google Play Store that gives access to millions of other apps.
APKMirror joins the Huawei search engine
Although there were quite a few different sources in the search engine code, the company has recently added another one, APKMirror, one of the best known websites for downloading applications. This website joins those that already existed: Huawei AppGallery, APKMonk, Aptoide, APKPure, APKCenter and Uptodown.
Petal Search supports XAPK files
Another novelty of this search engine integrated in the latest Huawei mobiles is the ability to install files XAPK. As we have told you, these files are packages that integrate both the APK of the apps and other data necessary for their installation.
XAPK files: What are they, what are they for and how do they open on Android
Have you ever encountered an XAPK file? We tell you everything about this format and how to use it on Android.
Normally we need an external installer, but thanks to the latest Petal Search update it will no longer be necessary. When we perform a search and the result is an XAPK we can install it directly.
With this move, Huawei continues to try to correct the absence of many apps on their mobiles, but it does not solve the problem that many of the apps continue to require Google’s APIs.
