The Fox broadcasting brand stands for the broadcasting of international series in the German pay-TV landscape. As a rule, the broadcaster owns the first broadcast rights. In the portrait, we bring you closer to the pay TV special interest channel and show you how we can receive its content.

As the second broadcaster in the Fox group, the Fox Channel went on air for the first time on May 19, 2008. A lot has happened since then. On November 1, 2010, the station began broadcasting HD within the Unity Media network. At the same time, the broadcast continued in SD, but Fox can now be seen everywhere in HD quality. While the channel was initially owned by Rupert Murdochs News Corporation and 21st Century Fox, the station found a new home under the Disney umbrella after being sold in spring 2019. Fox will also remain an independent broadcaster at Disney.

The pay TV station can be received within various packages in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In the German cable sector, Fox can be received in packages from the cable network operators Vodafone Kabel Deutschland and PŸUR as well as in many smaller cable networks that feed the M7 cable kiosk. It is also broadcast by Sky via cable and satellite. In the IPTV segment, Fox can be seen on Vodafone and Magenta TV. In Austria, too, Sky is offering Fox via cable and satellite. A1 Telekom Austria broadcasts the station via IPTV. In Switzerland, the station is distributed via the cable provider UPC Switzerland.

Series highlights

The Fox program mainly includes series from the USA and Great Britain. Navy CIS with all its offshoots is just as much a part of the station’s inventory as many other long-running series. Hawaii Five-0 can currently also be watched in the FOX daily program. First broadcasts of new series or new series seasons take place on the Fox channel during prime time, which begins at 9 p.m.

In late summer, three series can be seen on Fox for the first time. In addition to “Devs”, a new mini-series that we have already presented to you in more detail on the previous page, the twelfth season of the series “Doctor Who” has been on view since July 27th. Fans of the sci-fi series can look forward to being the first female incarnation of the doctor, Jodie Whittaker (“Broadchurch”) in 2018 for enthusiasm among the fans – for the twelfth season of the sci-fi hit, she returns to her prime role. Cinematic optics, captivating characters and new extraterrestrial dangers once again ensure top-class intergalactic tension. Ten episodes can be seen on Fox on Thursdays.

The ninth season of the popular crime series “Death in Paradise” will begin broadcasting on August 28 at 9 pm. In it, Jack Mooney (Ardal O’Hanlon) and his team have to put down countless dark figures again. What is particularly valuable about Fox is that most of the content is broadcast with free choice of tone. In addition to the German dubbing, the original soundtrack is available – if available.

Retrieval content

Fox is not only broadly positioned in classic linear reception. The station’s content is also part of numerous on-demand platforms such as Sky Ticket, Sky Q, Vodafone and Magenta TV. Binge watching, as series marathons are called by the younger generation, can therefore be practiced with all series broadcast by Fox.
