Apple released iOS 13.6.1 on Wednesday evening. The new version fixes, among other things, a problem with the encounter notification.
A memory management problem is also addressed. It could happen that system files that are no longer required were not deleted if the device ran out of memory.
The patch also fixes a thermal problem that could cause the screen to turn green on some devices.
The German government’s corona warning app relies on the Covid-19 contact framework. The developers had to admit problems with the notification and provided a fix to work around the problem. It is not yet clear to what extent the app will handle the new iOS and the fix for the encounter notification. Also on Wednesday there was another update for the free app, which should fix further problems with the encounter detection.
Here are the official release notes for iOS 13.6.1:
- Fixed an issue where unnecessary system data files were not automatically deleted when the available space becomes low
- Fixed an issue with temperature controls that could cause some displays to turn green
- Fixed an issue where encounter notifications could be disabled for some users
In addition to iOS 13.6.1, Apple has also released iPadOS 13.6.1 and a supplementary update for macOS Catalina 10.15.6.
