Legendary game designer Jeff Minter has been working hard on a new game for some time now, and if you’re a fan of his work, you’ll likely realize right away that it’s very much in the style of the games he likes to play. After he has already brought us into space with a giraffe, he is now hugging this moose life with a new trance shooter, which is about mixing chaotic but beautiful images with a haunting and engaging soundscape.
Similar to its previous game Polybius, this is a game that can be played on regular displays, but also comes with support for Valve Index, HTC Vive and Oculus Rift headsets for VR mode. In fact, in the foreseeable future, he expects all games he’s working on to get VR support:
“Head-mounted displays will be everyone in the future and we are now making everything we create playable in or out of VR, of course. Immersion via a VR headset makes the mood-enhancing, euphoric nature of our games even more effective. “
Between caring for the sheep on his farm in Wales, he has released some game development updates Twitter profile. It’s obviously a continuation of Jeff’s drive to explore game design, which focuses on trance-like immersion and a high level of video and audio stimuli. This is the type of game for which you want the best possible speaker setup, and it is clearly designed to benefit significantly from playing on a VR headset.
