This year in particular, most people are taking their summer vacation in Germany: NDR 2, SWR 3 and Bayern 3 want to use the “summer radio” to bring the holiday feeling between coasts and mountains to the radio.

Boltenhagen instead of Ballermann and camping site instead of cruise ship: In the Corona year 2020, many Germans take summer vacation in their own country. NDR 2 wants to bring the holiday feeling between the coasts and the Alps on the radio – together with the ARD pop waves from southern Germany, SWR 3 and Bavaria 3. The idea for this came from SWR 3.

Today, Friday, August 14th, the program “Das Sommerradio von SWR 3 and NDR 2” starts. For two hours, NDR 2 brings listeners to SWR 3 closer to the north – with live broadcasts from the Bay of Lübeck and insider tips between Flensburg and the three-river city of Hannoversch Münden. And vice versa, the north should get to know the “SWR 3 Land”, the most popular travel destinations in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate.

Next Monday, August 17th, NDR 2 will broadcast “The North-South Show: The Summer Radio from NDR 2 and Bavaria 3.” Reporters from NDR 2 will report live from the Baltic Sea coast in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Also: insider travel tips from Bavaria. And another topic: To what extent has the Corona situation influenced the holiday mood?

In addition to North German humor with the NDR 2 comedy “We are the Freeses” and songs for the north and the south, listeners should also have their say about their vacation stories in both programs.

The programs at a glance:

  • “The summer radio from SWR 3 and NDR 2”, Friday, August 14, from 4 to 6 pm, moderation: Henrik Hanses (NDR 2) and Volker Janitz (SWR 3)
  • “The North-South Show: The summer radio from NDR 2 and Bayern 3”, Monday, August 17, from 4 to 6 pm, moderation: Jessica Müller / Sascha Sommer (NDR 2) and Jacqueline Belle / Jerry Gstöttner (Bayern 3 )

It will be broadcast on Friday, August 14th and Monday August 17th, from 4 p.m. on NDR 2.
