The schedule for the beta program that Square Enix will run for the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game has just been reported. This will be the first chance for players around the world to try this game, and I think receiving this beta will be hugely important to the performance of this game. Many people are fixated on this game and want Marvel to deliver an action-packed game on a large scale that can bring fans of their comics and films together. We’re a little worried because even though this should be a slam dunk on paper, they haven’t managed to impress us with what they have shown so far. We remain open minded, but maybe developer Crystal Dynamics has a tough fight ahead.
With the kind permission of IGN, we heard that the beta will be staggered in August. Here are the key dates:
- August 7th: Beta is available on PS4 players who pre-ordered the game.
- August 14th: Xbox and PC Beta are available to players who pre-ordered the game and are available to all players on PS4
- August 21: Open beta for all players on all platforms.
It is not yet known how long the beta will continue to run. So jump straight to this dates if you want to get a taste of the game before launch. We are still waiting for the final system requirements for Avengers. They would have thought they would want to confirm these details when trying to coordinate a large pre-order boost with this beta.
Before the beta, they will host another “War Table” stream on July 29, detailing what exactly the content of the beta is. We are not sure which characters will be available to play, how many levels or missions will be included, or what the general structure will be. Presumably, these are all details that will be set during the stream.
So far, Crystal Dynamics has simply said:
“We made the beta so that you can experience most of the things that you will do throughout the game. That means playing part of the original single-player Avengers story campaign, fighting co-op missions, heroic and See world advances and explore War Zones and DROP ZONES, a new kind of mission we’ll talk about in the coming war table on July 29. This beta is meaty, but only a small part of the finished game. ”
We will keep you up to date on interesting developments in this game. Hopefully everything will be great and it will be a very enjoyable title for Marvel fans to put yourself in, but we’re really not sure at this point.
