Mini Xbox Controller launched for Microsoft’s xCloud service

by Tejas Dhawan

Microsoft is on the way to launch its new xCloud game streaming service later this year. With xCloud, Xbox users can stream games from the cloud to their Android phone or tablet. At least 50 games are available for testing when the service goes live. However, Microsoft is committed to making more games available in the future.

A new mini Xbox controller for xCloud users has just been announced for this new streaming service.

This controller is manufactured by 8BitDo, a company that specializes in retro gamepads. You have customized your retro NES controller for Microsoft’s xCloud service.

8BitDo is no stranger to miniature controllers. They also have a keychain controller for the switch and a miniature controller for the Switch Lite.

What do we know about the Mini Xbox Controller?

This is a bluetooth controller that is compatible with all Android smartphones and tablets.

Don’t worry if you’re concerned about using third-party accessories for xCloud. This controller is officially licensed as an xCloud and Xbox controller. 8BitDo worked closely with Microsoft to ensure that this controller was fully compatible with xCloud.

There is also separate software available that allows you to customize button assignments and trigger and stick sensitivity.

The battery life is also pretty good and should be up to 18 hours. We hope that this is more than enough even for the hardcore gamers. The controller can easily be charged via the USB-C connection. The mini controller also comes with a clip that can be attached to your smartphone for easy use.

The mini Xbox controller will be available on September 21, 2020 and will cost $ 44.99. You can get a head start by pre-ordering it from Amazon today.

Mobile Gaming Clip Also available for normal Xbox controllers

If you’d rather not buy a mini controller, a clip for normal wireless controllers is also available.

The clip has an adjustable position and can be expanded up to 86 mm for those with larger Android devices.

The gaming clip can also be pre-ordered on Amazon.com and will be released on September 21, 2020. The price is only $ 14.99. So you can save a bit of money if you prefer to use your normal size Xbox controller.

These various controller solutions are not only ideal for cloud games on the go, but also for mobile games and emulators.
