Daisy Coleman has committed suicide. In a Netflix documentary, the American reported her experiences after rape.
As a teenager, Daisy Coleman was raped by a classmate. Coleman described this experience and the subsequent bullying in the Netflix documentary “Audrie & Daisy”. But the young woman did not get over the events: at the beginning of the week she committed suicide. This was announced by her mother on Facebook.
Mother Melinda Moeller Coleman wrote that Daisy “never recovered from what these guys did to her”. After Daisy made rape allegations against another teenager at the age of 14, the teenager was charged, but there was no conviction in the case. However, Daisy and her family became massively hostile afterwards. Daisy had tried to kill herself in the past.
Daisy shared these experiences in the Netflix documentary “Audrie & Daisy” from 2016, for which she received the Cinema Eye Honor Award a year later.
Melinda Moeller Coleman has since shared several photos and texts about her daughter on Facebook. Among other things, a picture with Sweden’s Queen Silvia – Daisy had met her as part of her organization SafeBAE, with which she campaigned for the prevention of sexual assault.
