On behalf of the New York Metropolitan Opera, an opera star led by Anna Netrebko will give live streaming concerts in front of special scenes in Europe and the USA in the coming months. It starts with a Munich resident.

Opera singer Jonas Kaufmann will start the round on July 18 and sing in Polling Abbey, like the Metropolitan Opera (Met). Afterwards, among other things, the Russian-Austrian opera diva Anna Netrebko will perform at the Palais Liechtenstein in Vienna on October 10, and two weeks later the soprano Diana Damrau, born in Günzburg, together with her colleague Joseph Calleja in Malta. All concerts take place without an audience, but are broadcast live on the Internet. Tickets cost $ 20.

“We all decided together to try something new,” said Metropolitan Opera director Peter Gelb at a press conference on Saturday (local time). The opera house, which had been closed since mid-March in the metropolis New York, which was particularly hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic, had recently announced that it would not open again before December 31. According to estimates, the Met will lose millions in revenue.

“It’s a very difficult time,” said Yellow.
