In the HBO series “Perry Mason”, a broken defense lawyer battles through Los Angeles in the 1930s. Sky is showing the eight-part series this Friday.
“Perry Mason” takes place in Los Angeles in 1932. As the United States recovers from the Great Depression, the City of Angels is booming. Perry Mason, a famous criminal defense lawyer, suffers from his war experience in France as a result of his broken marriage. As a private investigator, Mason now wants to solve a failed kidnapping case that leads him to the mysterious preacher Sister Alice.
The series is based on the novels by Erle Stanley Gardner. These were made into a television series from 1955 to 1967, at that time with Raymond Burr in the title role. Now Matthew Rhys (“The Americans”) takes the lead. Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey, among others, were responsible for the new edition as producers. HBO has already extended the series for another season.
From July 31, the series will run every Friday from 8.15 p.m. in double episodes on Sky Atlantic HD (optionally in German or English). The episodes are also available on Sky Ticket, Sky Go and Sky Q.
