The new MDR Media, which wants to focus on the strategic tasks of the broadcaster, starts in early September. The management of the new business combination has now been determined.
The new MDR Media is the result of a merger of the two MDR holdings MDR-Werbung GmbH (MDRW) and DREFA Media Holding GmbH (DREFA), in which the three-country institution has previously pooled its marketing, production and technical activities. In the future, a management board team will now take the reins: the managing director Frank Möhrer, previously MDRW managing director, and Uwe Geissler, previously commercial managing director of DREFA, and the director of the MDR state radio company Thuringia, Boris Lochthofen, as spokesman for the management .
According to MDR director Karola Wille, there is a lot of potential in the cooperation of the MDR participation for a successful implementation of the strategic tasks of the MDR: “From successful content to contemporary production and professional marketing, the MDR investments offer many services that we need for the further development of our program offerings and for keeping up with the speed of innovation in the media area, ”says Wille.
On September 1st, MDR Media will start on the media campus in Erfurt – directly at the MDR-Landesfunkhaus Thüringen. Both Karola Wille and Boris Lochthofen expect the Erfurt location to be significantly strengthened. “From here, MDR Media will link its services from content to marketing even more intensively with the strategic fields of action of MDR,” announced Wille. At the end of 2021, the MDR Media employees will move into a new building on the media campus in Erfurt, for which the first cornerstone was laid on June 25 this year.
