The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 has caused online shopping to skyrocket worldwide. We have already seen many indications that distance shopping was beginning to eat away at physical shopping, but this pandemic has accelerated change.
And the great giants of the Internet are no strangers to these trends. We have already seen how Google launched an application that was a copy of Tik Tok but focused on online commerce in sectors such as makeup.
Now it is Instagram that announces a change in its application. In the middle of last year, the possibility of buying within the application became official, but without an online store. That changes today.
Instagram already has a section for the online store
In a first phase to access the Instagram online store we must click on the tab To explore. At the top of it we will now have products that will vary according to the profile of each one.
We will also have new sections, such as Collections or Brands.
What Instagram will do is accommodate each product based on your searches and tastes, just the same as it does in the Explore with accounts, videos and photos section. Surely if you compare many different Instagram profiles you will see that it is practically impossible for the Explore sections to look alike.
In a second phase there will be a new button at the bottom of the app interface that will take us directly to the store. This decision shows that this change will be relevant for the company.
Already in the United States and soon in more countries
This modification of the application interface is already coming to the United States and the users of this country in the coming days. In the rest of the markets we will have to wait one more week, but the company has already confirmed that it is a global launch, not something restricted to certain countries.
