Fans of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” can be happy: Next year “The Bad Batch” is a new animation series to be released at Disney +.
Yesterday Disney + commissioned the next animation series from Lucasfilm: “Star Wars: The Bad Batch”. After the season finale of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, the Disney + original series is to celebrate its streaming premiere in 2021.
The series follows the elite and experimental cloning of the bad batch, which was first mentioned in “The Clone Wars”. Each of the Bad Batch members – a clone unit that is genetically different from their brothers in the clone army – has their own unique ability that makes them particularly effective soldiers. In the aftermath of the Clone Wars, they will embark on daring mercenary missions as they struggle to stay afloat and find a new destination.
“Presenting the final chapter of” Star Wars: The Clone Wars “to old and new fans was a great honor for us at Disney + and we were delighted with the worldwide response to this groundbreaking series,” said Agnes Chu, Senior Vice President, Content, Disney +.
“While“ The Clone Wars ”has come to an end, our partnership with the innovative authors and exceptional artists from Lucasfilm Animation has only just begun. We are excited to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life with the new adventures from Bad Batch. ”
The series is produced by Josh Rimes (“Star Wars Resistance”). Brad Rau (“Star Wars Rebels”, “Star Wars Resistance”) takes on the function of the director with Jennifer Corbett (“Star Wars Resistance”, “NCIS”) as chief author.
