News VOD 21/20: ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ catches on Amazon Prime Video

by Tejas Dhawan

VOD news brings you the best releases of the week on Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime Video … And the truth is that the week is very weak, so by discarding we were left with Little Fires Everywhere, which at least is backed by two actresses with tables and plenty of good work.

Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video takes it this week, although as I said, without too many frills. In fact, we highlight Little Fires Everywhere because it is exclusive premiere content, but what is really interesting is everything that comes into the catalog: a ton of movies and series (more than 120 in total) where you can find a little bit of everything, including many classics that are certainly worth more than many news.

Little fires everywhere

Little Fires Everywhere it is a Hulu miniseries that Amazon Prime Video has been made exclusively; a suspense drama starring Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies, The Morning Show) and Kerry Washington (Scandal, Django Unchained) that is presumed to be a bit hackneyed, there is no reason to deny it, but that it has at least two solvent names in the industry to smooth out any possible – not sure – disappointment.

The second premiere of the week on Amazon Prime Video, and this is not exclusive but original, it is Homecoming, the psychological suspense drama with which the platform surprised a couple of years ago by being the first television series starring Julia Roberts. Now, if the first season ended with enough good reviews, the opposite is happening to this second season. And the trailer looks good. Who knows.

Disney +

Disney + continues at a slow and hopeless pace, but every couple of weeks it premieres one of its blockbusters to make the drink more enjoyable, as is the case.

Maleficent, Master of Evil

Maleficent, Master of Evil no introductions needed: it’s the sequel to Maleficent, in turn adaptation of the classic Sleeping Beauty that if it stands out for something is because it stars Angelina Jolie. However, it happens as the aforementioned Homecoming: the first taste, the second not. But it may come as a bit of a relief if you’re fed up with Star Wars and Marvel already.

HBO also follows his and for this week he only brings a single release, exclusive that not original, and uninteresting. You will have to settle for what it already has.

Stargirl is the new superhero series from The CW, an American youth-themed channel known precisely for its series from the DC universe, such as Arrow, Flash or others like DC’s Legends of Tomorrow or Supergirl that HBO has exclusively for these parts and to which this new one is added. It should serve to hang out. Or not. It will depend on how tired you are from these series, quite lukewarm and repetitive.

And we reached the most absolute decline, and that is that if a few days ago he talked about how complicated Netflix has to endure the competition, he barely mentioned in passing one of his biggest problems: the amount of infectious garbage he produces without any flush. This week, for example, premieres two series for teenagers and youngsters that smell of rotten Elite, but in a Mexican and South African key; a comedy that with seeing the trailer you already know that it is going to be a slop; a series of friendship and romance that seems the most drinkable but that they haven’t even promoted with a paltry trailer; other reality more … There are no highlights from Netflix this week, because what does not already have a trajectory is directly scary.
