Last Friday, July 24th, television maker Jürgen Hörner passed away unexpectedly. Horns had had a lasting impact on the television industry for many years.
Horns died of sudden heart failure at the age of only 55, as DWDL first reported. Hörner has been with ProSieben since 1993. He not only worked for the broadcaster as an editor, but later also as a program planner and managing director. In April 2011, Hörner took over the position of managing director of ProSiebenSat.1 TV Deutschland.
Jürgen Hörner also worked as a developer of the channel eoTV, which started for the first time in 2015. The station went bankrupt in 2019 during the upswing of streaming services such as Netflix and Co. Nevertheless, according to its own statements, Horns should not have regretted this step.
Wolfgang Link, ProSiebenSat.1 board member and CEO SevenOne Entertainment commented on DWDL’s death: “We were very shocked to learn of Jürgen Hörner’s sudden death. Jürgen Hörner worked for ProSiebenSat.1 in various positions for over twenty years. For many employees, he was not just a highly valued colleague. He was one thing above all: a passionate TV maker, a friend, a loyal companion. A fine person. His far too early death leaves us speechless. Our sincere condolences go to his wife and family during this difficult time. Dear Jürgen: We will miss you! “
