Qualcomm has just announced Quick Charge 5, a new fast charging system that allows us to charge a 4,500 mAh battery in just 15 minutes. This new system is 5 minutes faster than what we can find in the OnePlus fast charging system, one of the manufacturers that has bet the most with this charging system.
The Quick Charge 4+ system allowed use chargers up to 100W to quickly charge the terminals. With this new generation, we do not know if that power remains the same or Qualcomm has expanded it, since it has not reported this detail.
Another of the novelties that come with this new fast charging system is its temperature. Rapid charging systems increase the temperature of the batteries during the process. According to Qualcomm, with QC 5, charging temperature is reduced by 10 degrees centigrade compared to QC 4+.
A half solution
The solution to the problems of battery life of today’s smartphones is not just about offering a fast charging system, but also about improving the efficiency of the processors and the performance and capacity of the batteries.
Fast charging, in the long run, damages the battery, since it gets very hot during the process, so it stops offering its optimal performance more quickly than if we use a traditional 5w charger.
