The realme smartwatch comes to fill a small gap in the market, and it does it well.
realme has unveiled several devices over the past few weeks, from new wireless headphones realme Buds Air Neo up to realme band, a smart bracelet that aims to compete with the Xiaomi Mi Band. But the thing do not ends there, the asian company is shaping an entire ecosystem of products.
The catalog of realme smartphones has only grown during this year 2020, with launches as interesting as the realme 6,
he realme 6 pro or the most recent realme X3 and realme X3 SuperZoom.
To complete an ecosystem like that of the Chinese firm, you couldn’t miss a smart watch. The Dongguan company introduced not too long ago its first such device, the realme watch. I have had the opportunity to use it for a few days and I bring you my impressions. I go ahead with a spoilerIt is a fairly inexpensive device that has come to fill a small gap in the market. And he has done well.

Design and display
It won’t take long for you to realize, the design of this realme Watch is very reminiscent of Apple’s smartwatch. In this case we find a square plastic body and rounded edges. Its finish is shiny and although the plastic material feels, does not give the impression of being a cheap device.
On the right side, a button with a central colored line that will help you get to the main screen after wandering through the different menus. Its rear includes the charging pins, plus a heart rate sensor and a sensor to measure the amount of oxygen in the blood.
It weighs just 31 grams, It is a very light watch that you will forget as soon as you wear it for a few minutes. The strap with which it comes standard is black, but you can find several options of other colors such as red, blue and green in the store of the Chinese firm. This realme Watch features IP68 certification, it will be protected against water, dust and sweat.
On its front we find a 1.4-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels which looks pretty good. It is surrounded by considerable frames, especially the lower one, but it is not bad at all if we use a personalization with a dark background. In any case, and considering its price, we did not expect anything spectacular. The maximum brightness is not surprising, but it is correct and will allow you to view the screen smoothly in most situations.
A good functionality-price ratio
When we talk about wearables offering a wide variety of functions at a good price, the Xiaomi Mi Band is usually the most named. However, if you are looking for more than just a bracelet, if you want the aesthetics of a watch, this realme Watch has proven to be one of the best value for money options.
You can use 14 sports modes, among which we find very varied activities: walking, outdoor running, indoor running, cycling, exercise bike, aerobic capacity, table tennis, badminton, strength training, basketball, soccer, elliptical, yoga and even cricket. We miss sports as popular as tennis, something strange also considering that it includes even with pin-pong.
The realme watch is able to measure your heart rate, something that we have also seen in cheaper devices. However, it also incorporates a sensor that will measure the amount of oxygen in your blood, something not so common. In less than 10 seconds it will check if the saturation level of your blood is correct.
Measurement seems correct, I had the opportunity to compare it with the Apple Watch Series 5, one of the maximum references, and the figures were not far off. However, It did show some alert – I think unwarranted – when it detected too high a heart rate. While the Apple watch showed a figure close to 120 beats per minute, the realme Watch shot up to 160.
An autonomy with which you can rest easy
Autonomy is one of the factors that mark the experience with a smartwatch. Many smart watches need to be charged almost every night, which can leave us without power in the middle of the day if we are too demanding. Fortunately, the realme Watch has complied in this section.
The battery lasts practically a week, maybe a little less if you squeeze them to the maximum and use it often to exercise. With moderate use, checking notifications and recording some activity, it is close to 8 days of use. I think it deserves a good note in this section.
A 50-euro smartwatch has its limitations
As I pointed out at the beginning, the realme Watch comes to fill a small gap in the market, the one that is between the cheapest smart bracelets and the top-priced smartwatches. As you can imagine, Being an economic device, it has some limitations.
The experience with your screen is not the best, not the most fluid. The operating system that it incorporates has been developed by realme and well, it works. It is somewhat slow and we find a palpable absence of fluidity, but the system does what it should do, period. We also do not have the option to install applications.
This is the application of realme
Realme Link It is the name of the application with which you can pair the Chinese signature watch. It is available on Google Play, although not in the Apple app store. In any case, it seems that it will arrive for the iPhone sooner rather than later. At the time of writing this review the list of compatible Android mobiles is somewhat limitedalthough I have had no problem pairing the realme Watch with the OPPO Find X2 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite.
The application has a main screen where you can see all the devices connected to your smartphone (in this case only the realme Watch). Entering the clock section you will find different options, such as the possibility of change the interface design, notification settings, reminders, an alarm clock mode and a way to find your phone, among others.
Of course, You will also be able to know in detail your training sessions. Exercise time, calories burned, average heart rate, even a graph that breaks down your workout based on the type of movement.
realme Watch: conclusions and opinion
If you are looking for something more than a Xiaomi Mi Band, if you want a wearable with a watch aesthetic, this realme Watch is a very good purchase. You can not put too much trouble, for just over 50 euros you have a nice design, a good set of features and autonomy that will allow you to not worry.
The realme Watch is the perfect device for those looking for a first smart watch. Also for those who do not know if they need a smart watch.
