Set sail on Britannic with a new simulation experience on Steam

by Tejas Dhawan

Indie game developer and publisher Vintage Digital Records has released a brand new experience on Steam.

Britannic: Patroness of the Mediterranean is a VR-friendly simulation title, with which you can travel on board the Britannic sister ship to the notorious Titanic.

This title offers an astonishingly realistic replica of the ship that allows you to explore the ship and travel back in time to learn more about its history.

Britannic has a lot of history, although it is overshadowed by its better-known sister ship. She was the third ship in the trio of the Olympic class.

Unlike the Titanic, Britannic was more of a floating hospital than a commercial liner and never took a paying passenger with it. It was taken over by the British government in the middle of its construction for use during the First World War. Britannic tragically became another victim of the war when it sank after hitting a mine near the coast of Greece.

Discover different modes in VR or non-VR versions

Britannic: The patron saint of the Mediterranean can be explored in VR or non-VR version. So if you don’t have a VR headset, don’t worry.

There are also two fascinating modes that you can switch between. Britannic can be seen and explored as the hospital ship it became. In the other mode, you can take a look at the world-class ocean liner as it was supposed to be, with all of its luxurious furniture.

With the fly-around camera, you can roam through the decks and authentic surroundings on board at your own pace. Take a look at the world-class facilities, the Georgian or Regal Suites, the Grand Staircase or go below deck to see the boiler and engine rooms.

Every detail has been carefully created by a team of historians who browse archives, as well as wreck divers who have explored the wreck itself.

There’s even a falling real-time animation that lets you experience what it would have been like. You have to act quickly and grab a lifeboat if you want to escape!
