Spotify launches video podcasts to compete against YouTube

YouTube has become a platform where everything fits, even a podcast like the one we record every week from Actualidad iPhone. In the past year, Spotify has made many podcast-related moves, buying different platforms and coming to different deals for some content creators to post solely on their platform.

In addition to U.S. podcast star Joe Rogan, Spotify will also feature Michelle Obama on her podcast platform. Thanks to these two signings, the big brands are beginning to see how podcasts are an interesting platform to advertise in and from which Spotify obviously wants to get a significant slice.

The latest news related to Spotify’s efforts in the podcast world, we find that it is now possible to enjoy the videos of our favorite podcasts (as long as they are available) through the Swedish streaming music platform.

Unlike YouTube, on Spotify, we can enjoy only the audio of the favorite podcast, since this will continue to play in the background when we lock the device, switch apps, or turn off the screen. It should be remembered that the Spotify podcast platform is free for everyone and you do not have to be a paid subscriber to enjoy them.

The first video podcasts already available on this platform are:

  • Book of Basketball 2.0
  • Fantasy footballers
  • The Misfits Podcast
  • H3 Podcast
  • The Morning Toast
  • Higher Learning with Van Lathan & Rachel Lindsay
  • The Rooster Teeth Podcas

Spotify numbers continue to grow every quarterThanks in part to the bet you are making on podcasts. Using an application to listen to our favorite music in streaming and another for podcasts is very convenient.

Also, they don’t have to pay the record labels And although some of the latest signings have been expensive, attracting new and large advertisers allows them to easily capitalize on this investment.
