Suikoden Creators crowdfunding a spiritual successor – WePC

The makers of Suikoden are working on a “spiritual successor” to the classic role-playing game.

A new team called Rabbit & Bear Studios announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund the upcoming game – Eiyuden Chronicle. This is an old-school-style role-playing game designed to give fans of old role-playing games a little nostalgia.

The story was written by Yoshitaka Murayama, who wrote the story of the original Suikoden and Suikoden II. He also works with Junko Kawano, who provided the character design for Suikoden, and Juichi Murakami, who worked on art design for Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow.

What can we expect from Eiyuden Chronicle?

Eiyuden Chronicle is a brand new JRPG that uses a traditional turn-based RPG combat system. Players can take control of one of six individual units that battle creatures and armies.

The story takes place in a corner of Allraan, a collection of nations with a diverse mix of cultures. This world was “shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the people, beasts, elves and desert people who live there”.

The plot is about magical objects called “rune lenses”. The Galdean Empire has discovered a technology that amplifies this magic and looks for a way to further increase that power.

This is where the main characters come into play. Seign Kesling is an imperial officer and Nowa is a boy from a village. They meet, form an unlikely friendship, and go on an expedition to help the empire expand its powers. However, they are drawn into a war that forces them to “check everything they think is right and true”.

During this game you will encounter a number of different enemies, from dragons to golems, all of which have their own abilities and skills. Aside from all the battles, you have the opportunity to explore the world of Eiyuden, meet many different characters, and, perhaps more importantly, meet many cats.

“Eiyuden Chronicle is not just a classic style JRPG. It’s also full of adorable cats,” says the Kickstarter page. “Cats meow, cats take a nap, cats explore the world. Cats, cats, cats. Meow! “

On the Kickstarter campaign page, you’ll see a full list of character profiles and some gameplay information.

Smash the Kickstarter goal

There seems to be a lot of interest in this upcoming game. The Rabbit & Bear Studios team has now far surpassed its goal.

They have exceeded their original goal of $ 500,000, and the numbers continue to grow 31 days before the campaign ends. It belongs to the league of kickstarter mega hits like Double Fine Adventure, Bloodstained, Mighty Number 9 and Shenmue 3.

What platforms do we see Eiyuden Chronicle on?

The original goal is that the game will be released on the PC as soon as the minimum goal is reached. After that, developers plan to continue releasing the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Given the Kickstarter Fund’s good performance, there is a possibility that this will appear on next-generation consoles.
