The next Samsung Galaxy Fold will arrive with a new name

Last October the Samsung Galaxy Fold arrived in Spain, the brand’s first folding phone. An innovative, risky device, but one that ushered in a new era and a new segment of Android phones. Since then, the firm has left us with another folding model, at the beginning of the year, the Galaxy Z Flip.

In addition, they are working on the successor to the Galaxy Fold, which should arrive this summer with a series of improvements. This model would be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Note 20 in early August, and would come up with a new name. Since Samsung is going to rename this range of phones.

New name for the Galaxy Fold

Galaxy Fold 2

Instead of betting on the name Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, the Korean brand seeks to make the two ranges of folding phones on the market more consistent. So this new phone is going to be brand new, so that it is known that it is one of the folding devices within the brand’s catalog.

As various media point throughout today that the new folding phone would launch under the name Galaxy Z Fold 2. The reason this is happening is that Samsung seeks to use the name Galaxy Z on all of its folding devices. It is the way in which users can immediately recognize that it is a model within this range.

Also, for a few hours the original Galaxy Fold was shown as Galaxy Z within the Samsung website. So this name change seems somewhat clear, in addition to being understandable that the brand wants to have its folding phones organized in a clear way for consumers. Although this new name may seem to many to be something strange or too complex.

Soon we will be able to get out of doubts and see if this will be the new name. Considering that the presentation date of the Galaxy Note 20 was leaking this morning, we should not have to wait too long to see if the brand bets on a new denomination for this range.
