OnePlus presents its first true wireless headphones.
Many expected them, and finally they are a reality: OnePlus’ first fully wireless headphones are here, and they are called OnePlus Buds. The company has taken advantage of the presentation event of its new OnePlus Nord, a new mid-range smartphone and attractive price, to announce to the world a new generation of its headphone series, this time they completely forget about the cables to make way for the experience true wireless.
The OnePlus Buds are cousins of the alive TWS Neo, the fully wireless headphones that the Chinese firm belonging to the BBK Electronics conglomerate – like OnePlus – launched a few weeks ago. They are, therefore, headphones that stand out from the line that OnePlus had us used to with its series Bullets Wireless, which aspire to rival some of the most popular models on the market.

Like many other models launched in recent months, The OnePlus Buds are inspired by the design of Apple’s AirPods. The headphones are made of shiny plastic and have an in-ear format without rubber tips, something that could affect the insulation to a certain extent. However, the brand ensures a comfortable fit for long periods of time, even when doing sports, something they are prepared for thanks to the IPX4 certification.
The back of each handset has a Touch panel that can be used to control the playback of multimedia content and calls. In this sense, the brand will offer the possibility of configure gestures and controls, giving the following options:
- Pause / play
- Skip / Return between songs
- Answer / end a call
- Activate voice assistant
- 3 seconds to switch between connected devices
- 5 seconds to reject a call
Unlike headphones, the charging case is made of a material with a matte finish, softer and more repellent to fingerprints than their own Buds. In a sense, it reminds of the finish of the charging case of the latest Google Pixel Buds, with which by the way it also shares the Oval shaped. OnePlus also offers three colors for all tastes: black and white for those who want to go unnoticed, and a blue very similar to that of the OnePlus Nord, intended for those who really want to attract attention.
Precisely in the case are some of the most interesting details of these headphones, such as the inclusion of a USB Type-C connector which gives the possibility of quickly recharge headphones, so that with 10 minutes of charge it is possible to obtain up to 10 hours of duration. Best of all, you don’t even need to use a specific charger or cable.
In that sense, The OnePlus Buds aspire to stand out for their bestial autonomy, because they promise a duration of up to 30 hours if we add the autonomy of the headphones – 7 hours – with that of the charging case itself. Unfortunately, unlike what happens with other models such as the realme Buds Air, the OnePlus Buds do not include Qi wireless charging.
As for sound, the Buds include 13.4mm dynamic drivers with Bass Boost system, combined with Dolby Atmos and Dirac Audio Tuner systems. They also have a low latency system called Fnatic Mode perfect for gaming, and with an environmental noise cancellation system That, yes, can only be used during phone calls, and not when listening to music.
Another interesting addition is the Fast Pair function, which greatly facilitates the process of connecting and pairing the headphones with our Android device.
