The Pixel 4 are no longer manufactured and there will be no Pixel 5 in Spain: we return to 2016

In recent days we have known several news about the Google Pixel, a brand that has become the flagship of Android, not so much for sales volume but for importance in the evolution of the operating system.

As Google is the leader in the evolution of Android, the Pixels are the easiest and most direct way to get to know all the Android news before anyone else and for a long period of time. The flagship usually has a new version and is updated for 3 years, so you end up being the latest for 4 versions of Android.

If you are a Pixel enthusiast and live in Spain, 2020 is not your year, at least not as long as Google does not change its mind.

The Pixels return to 2016 in Spain

2016 was not a great year for Google mobile enthusiasts in Spain. If 2015 left us a very excellent Nexus 6P, the change to the Pixel brand left us with no options to access a Google mobile, since we had a Nexus that stopped selling and a Pixel that could not be bought.

In 2020 we have returned to the same point, and it is that a few days ago, before the imminent launch of the Pixel 5, Google Spain confirmed to El Androide Libre that the list of countries in which it would be available would be in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom Kingdom, Ireland, France, Germany, Japan, Taiwan and Australia. In the article we add a “initially” because it can change, but at the moment there are no plans.

Google Pixel 4

To this is added a new low, and that is that Google has confirmed to The Verge that the Pixel 4 and 4 XL are no longer manufactured and that the units sold are the last remaining. Update support has not been reduced, and will continue its normal cycle.

The only difference with 2016 is that, at least this year, we have an affordable Pixel 4a, a mobile that stands out for being the best small mobile. If you like big mobiles, you will have to import from another country, wait until the end of 2021 or definitely leave Google mobiles.

At the time of writing these lines, the Google Spain store continues to have available units of both models.

  • For the standard model there are still 64 and 128 GB black units, while in the white model it is only accessible in 128 GB.
  • In the case of the XL model, only stock in black for the 64 GB model.
